Sheriff Loans Heifers

PALMETTO, FL — This year, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with Palmetto High School’s new agriscience teacher, Julie Tillett, to provide four brangus heifers to be used by her animal science classes.

Students are not only learning about the proper care and nutrition of the cattle, but will also be showing the heifers at the Manatee County Fair on January 15th through the 25th.

In late November, Mrs. Tillett and Sergeant Buddy Parks of the Manatee County Sheriffs Office will be breeding the heifers. The calves will be donated to Palmetto High School to start a new herd for the high school’s agriscience program.

For more information on the program contact Julie Tillett, Palmetto High School at 941-723-4848.
