In this photo released from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, David Barnes, an apiary inspector with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows participants in the 2009 Bee College how to safely conduct a bee colony inspection. Barnes was among the instructors at the second annual Bee College, held at UF Whitney Laboratory at Marineland. The two-day event featured more than 40 lectures, classes and workshops aimed at professional beekeepers to bee novices.
