  • Organic Transition & Pesticide Reduction Workshop at the Manatee County Extension Service Feb. 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Workshop is free and refreshments and lunch will be provided.   • Tree-Based Alternative Enterprises Workshop and field day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowley Museum and Nature Center, 16405 Myakka Road, Sarasota, FL 34240. A day of exploring ideas for diversifying income from farm or land with items like culinary mushrooms, pine trees, fruit trees, combining cattle and trees, and much more.   • Producer Resource Workshop, Tuesday, March 10, noon to 5 p.m. at the Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension Office, 5339 C.R. 579, Seffner. This workshop will help participants learn more about the services available from Hillsborough County, the Cooperative Extension Service, USDA, SWFWMD, and the Florida Department of Agriculture.   • Small Farms Alternative Enterprises Conference, Aug. 1-2, Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee. This is the first-ever STATE-WIDE conference on this subject. The new location will accommodate a large trade show, six concurrent educational sessions, a large indoor livestock arena, and a lunch area. Small farm direct marketing has become more visible due, in part, to the national movement to support local foods and small diversified family farms.
